Bangkok is a thriving cultural and entertainment metropolis of over 9 million people. The city offers food, bars, clubs and every conceivable pleasure to cater for the diversity a city of this size demands. Buses and high speed rail coupled with taxis and a good road network means that getting out and about is a breeze. A warm summer breeze that is! The type of establishment you go to in Bangkok will determine what you can expect to see and experience. Here there is much more than just a bar or nightclub although we do have those too!
Your basic Bangkok beer bar will sell drinks at a reasonable price. This is purely a drinking establishment often the kind of place to warm you up for a big night out. The beer bar is not much different from a pub although in Bangkok if it’s called a pub it will probably have and English feel and will live up to the expectations of an English style pub. If you want to step out for a classy night on the town a cocktail lounge will offer a more upmarket feel and drinks menu. English and Thai speaking hostesses are par for the course as is excellent service.
Bangkok has perhaps more discotheques than anywhere else does. Every taste in music, style and surroundings is catered for in halls and hotels around the city. DJ’s are top notch and the music beats to the wee hours of the morning in most. Many hotels host their own discotheques for the pleasure of their guests and visitors.
Bangkok is famous for go-go bars and the festive environment within makes for a fun atmosphere. These bars will provide a range of drinks including everything you expect to see on the top shelf. The setting is usual comfortable but vibrant. Massage parlours are also very big in Thailand.
Finally all of Thailand is a karaoke lover’s paradise and the city abounds in both private and public karaoke bars. These are often combined with cocktail lounges.
The Chidlom – Ploenchit or Victory Monument areas generally attracts the business person who wants to unwind. The bars and clubs in these areas are upmarket, executive style with a western feel that attracts many local ex-pats. The area is also renowned for some excellent live jazz.

For the foodies who didn’t get enough during the day Chinatown is awake all night and cooking up a storm to go with drinks in a laid back casual environment. If you want more edge and excitement than relaxation, visit Sukhumvit. Here you can enjoy, fun, laughter, drinking and dancing. Join in or just admire the many professional dancers there are to admire.
For those on holiday with the family or just after a pleasant evening out, the Ratchaprasong area has entertainment to please every age include night movies and sport games. Parents can relax with a cold drink while the kids are entertained.
Finally Ratchadapisek (you don’t want to confuse this with Ratchaprason because it isn’t for the kids) is where you can really let your hair down and party into the early hours of the morning. This is a government designated nightlife zone. Generally the drinks are cheap, the bars are open later than elsewhere and throughout the streets the hip hop and house music rhythm beats. Come to this neighborhood only if you want to dance and party!
